Matt Hill says George Long's impressive form has come as no surprise to his team-mates.
Long has proved he is an ably deputy for the injured Mark Howard and Hill insists the 18-year-old's ability has never been in question:
"We have always had confidence in George; when he came on at Leyton Orient we knew he would just play his game. He is a fantastic goalkeeper who has worked ever so hard for this opportunity and he is taking it with both hands.
"When called upon he has made some fantastic saves to keep us in games. He has got to have the confidence to be a talker at the back and he is learning quickly, through our encouragement, to be the boss back there.
"George can go all the way to the top, hopefully that can be with Sheffield United."
On his own performances, which have earned praise from manager Danny Wilson recently, the versatile Hill added: "My strongest attribute is defending and I am no stranger to playing at centre-half.
"It is different to playing left-back but I relish the responsibility of being a leader back there and concentrating fully on defending. I am not fazed about competing physically with more imposing players.
"We defend well as a team and that starts from the front. Aerially we are strong whoever plays in the back four."
