Danny Wilson has confirmed his intention to extend Paul Gallagher's loan spell at Bramall Lane.
The Leicester City forward was at United's Shirecliffe training base on Thursday morning where he was expected to train and Wilson is hopeful Gallagher will be available to face Oldham Athletic:
"I am hoping to get it completed before the weekend," commented the Blades boss, who feels his team have benefited from the presence of the former Blackburn Rovers star:
"Paul is now showing exactly why we brought him in to start with, he was a bit rusty at first but now he has settled into the role we want him to play and he is developing an understanding with his teammates.
"The more he plays the better he will get and we will see more from him.
"He is a striker and he always has that threat of a goal, he gives us another option and importantly a source of goals.
"We were too reliant on strikers to score last season and I wanted goals from throughout the team, thankfully this season we are seeing more of that."
