The Blades have concluded a deal to tie an exciting Academy prospect down to a long-term professional contract.
Watched by his parents, 17-year-old Diego De Girolamo, a striker from Chesterfield of Italian decent, has penned a deal until the summer of 2015.
De Girolamo has impressed many onlookers this season with his performances for the U18s. He has also made several cameo appearances in the U21s and his efforts have been acknowledged by United's management staff.
On signing his first professional contract, De Girolamo commented: "I am delighted to have been able to pledge my long-term future to the club. I have been here since I was seven years-old.
"I have been happy with my performances for the U18s and U21s this season and hopefully, in time, I can progress and be in and around the first-team squad."
Boss Danny Wilson added: "I am pleased that we have secured the services of another exciting prospect from our Academy.
"Diego will continue to work hard up at Shirecliffe and we will monitor his development closely, as we do with all the youngsters. He has a lot of hard work ahead of him, but having seen him play this season he is certainly one for the future."
