Collins in contract talks

16 October 2012

Danny Wilson has confirmed the Blades are in talks to tie Neill Collins to a new contract.

The United boss is full of admiration for his centre-half and Wilson believes keeping players of his ilk at Bramall Lane is crucial to the long-term progression of the club.

On the discussions that are currently taking place behind the scenes, Wilson commented: "We have been talking to Neill; he has had a tremendous 16 to 18 months since we arrived and he is another exemplary professional.

"Keeping the likes of Neill, Michael (Doyle) and Richard (Cresswell) can only benefit the youngsters beneath them.

"They are great role models for the younger lads and more importantly they are vital to the success of the first-team at the moment.

"I believe that talks are progressing nicely and everything is amicable."
