Danny Wilson remains keen to extend Paul Gallagher's loan stay at Bramall Lane, but says the decision isn't United's to make.
With the Scotsman's current loan stint poised to end after the weekend trip to Leyton Orient, Wilson gave this response when asked for an update on the situation at his weekly press conference:
"That decision is in Leicester City's hands, they wanted him to go out on-loan and play games and he is doing that here. I would like to keep him but, rightly so, as the parent club the decision rests with Leicester.
"We feel he is benefiting from the spell here and it would be of benefit to Leicester should they want to recall him or decided to move him on permanently."
The Blades boss says talks are ongoing with the Foxes and Wilson is encouraged that the player has intimated a desire to stay:
"We have spoken to Leicester and Paul and he is relaxed about the situation, he is enjoying his football at the moment. Paul proved the other night how valuable his contribution to the team is and I have seen him score important goals consistently over recent years."
Gallagher scored United's late winner at Hartlepool on Tuesday evening, confidently slotting home Ryan Flynn's cross.
