Mark Howard (thigh) will definitely miss Saturday's clash against Oldham Athletic, whilst Neill Collins (foot) remains a doubt.
Howard is expected to be missing for two to three months after sustaining a muscle problem at Leyton Orient and with no loan goalkeeper being drafted in, it would appear Danny Wilson will put his faith in George Long.
Collins, who missed the trip to the Matchroom Stadium, is now out of hospital after an infection in his foot, but is touch and go to face the Latics, Matt Hill is expected to remain in the centre of United's backline with Marcus Williams at left-back.
The Scottish defender's bravery has earned him some praise from the Gaffer, who commented: "Neill still hasn't trained but the infection is clearing up brilliantly, you don't stay in hospital for the time he did if it wasn't nasty.
"It shows you the measure of the man that he played at Hartlepool in so much pain because he was straight in hospital afterwards.
"That shows that players put the club before themselves and as a manager I can't ask for more."
Lecsinel Jean-Francois (knee) still isn't ready to return to competitive action, but he is now back in full training at Shirecliffe.
Meanwhile, for the visitors, skipper Dean Furman will miss the trip to Bramall Lane, as he has been selected for international duty by South Africa.
