Dependable defender Neill Collins signed a new contract with the Blades on Friday morning.
The 29-year-old Scotsman has agreed an additional two years with an option for a third.
Neill has played over 80 times for the Blades after signing from Leeds in January 2011 and is a forceful presence in the heart of the United defence. He said: "I'm pleased everything is done and dusted, quickly and amicably.
"There are many factors why I wanted to stay and not least because I love it here. We've got a good side, the club is great, the management team are fantastic to work with and I think I'm thriving.
"My aim is to get better here and contribute to the immediate objectives of getting out of this league and consolidating in the Championship."
Boss Danny Wilson added: "It is fantastic that we can get the likes of Richard Cresswell, Michael Doyle and now Neill Collins signed up and committed to the club. The experience of these lads is paramount as we look to nurture a young side.
"Neill was exemplary last season and he has begun this in the same form. People can learn a lot from him, his application, both in training on the pitch, is exceptional, as I've said on numerous occasions."
