Matt Hill echoed the sentiments of boss Danny Wilson following Saturday's defeat at Brentford on Saturday.
Speaking after the reversal at Griffin Park, the experienced defender, who returned to the starting line-up after missing two games with a hamstring injury, commented:
"It is a very disappointing result; we didn't start in the first 45 minutes and that gave us a mountain to climb.
"We conceded two poor goals, quite honestly, and although we had chances we lacked the killer instinct in front of goal.
"We should have done better with certain opportunities but credit to their goalkeeper for a string of fine saves."
On Saturday's FA Cup tie, Hill added: "You always look forward to a FA Cup tie at home, hopefully we can overcome a very good Port Vale outfit and then sit back for the third round draw."
