Dave Kitson will remain a Blade until the end of the season... at the very least.
The talismanic 32-year-old striker has agreed a contract extension until the end of the current campaign with the possibility of a further year at Bramall Lane if United win promotion back to the Championship.
Kitson said: "We had scheduled a meeting for the end of November but at the beginning of the month I had contact with the club and they made it clear that they would like to extend my stay and that spoke volumes.
"I still would like to go to America but we will revisit that at a later date because it wouldn't have sat comfortably with me to leave a job half done here after fully integrating myself into a great squad at Bramall Lane.
"The aim is to have a good crack at winning promotion."
For the record, Kitson has scored three goals and claimed three assists in his seven starts to date.
