Porter signs on

5 July 2012

Chris Porter has committed his future to the Blades after agreeing a new two-year contract on Thursday.

The striker, who netted eight goals last term, including the play-off semi-final winner against Stevenage at Bramall Lane, becomes the first of the three out of contract players to pledge his services to the cause.

On his new deal, which also has the option of a third year, Porter said: "I am delighted to get this finalised. It was always my intention to stay and we must now move forward and bounce back from the disappointment of losing at Wembley.

"I have really enjoyed my time at Sheffield United to date, at times it has been frustrating and obviously I would have liked to play more, but I was made up to go through a full season without any injury setbacks.

"Next season is a big one for me, I am determined to improve my personal performances and I am sure, as a team, we are capable of another good season."

Boss Danny Wilson added: "We are very happy to be able to keep Chris at this football club.

"We all believe he has much more to offer us this season. We certainly haven't seen the best of him yet but we remain confident in his abilities."
