Boss wishes Matt well

6 July 2012

Matt Lowton is being tipped to make an instant impact in the Premier League by Blades boss Danny Wilson.

The Gaffer admitted his disappointment at losing his coveted defender on Friday but admits a move to Aston Villa is a fantastic career move for Lowton himself.

v Wilson said: "Obviously this is a sad loss for Sheffield United, but there is no way you could hold back a fantastic opportunity for Matt.

"He is the right age to be pushing for a first-team place at a club like Aston Villa, it isn't like selling an 18 or 19-year-old.

"Matt has the experience and ability to be successful in the Premier League and obviously everyone at Bramall Lane wish him all the very best for the future."

Lowton made 89 appearances and scored 10 goals at Bramall Lane after progressing through the Shirecliffe Academy system.
