Opportunity knocks

14 December 2012

David McAllister is determined to take his opportunity should he be selected to fill the void left by the injured Kevin McDonald.

McAllister is keen to grab the chance with both hands, although he insists his game differs greatly to that of McDonald:

"Kevin and Michael (Doyle) have an excellent partnership in the centre of the park but I have to take my opportunity if it presents itself.

"I am a different player to Kevin, nobody could replicate his game and when I do get a chance to impress the Gaffer I concentrate on playing to my strengths.

"I always give it 100 per cent, I am box-to-box and will always try and get amongst the goals as I have done this season.

"We have a great team spirit, everyone plays for each other and you can see the way we celebrate a goal that we are all in this together."

Looking ahead to the third versus first clash, McAllister concluded: "We are a point off the top as we approach halfway, these games are so important because it is so tight at the top.

"Tranmere have surprised a few people, but credit to them. They have obviously deserved their success this season and we won't be taking them lightly.

"We seem to raise our game at Bramall Lane and if we can replicate our performance against Stevenage we won't go far wrong."
