Danny Wilson says injuries to Shaun Miller and Neill Collins put a blemish on Wednesday's Boxing Day win over Scunthorpe United.
Miller left the field at half time and was replaced by John Cofie, whilst Collins was forced off early in the second half with a serious looking facial injury.
Wilson admitted losing both players would be a big blow: "We will have to wait and see how Shaun's knee is in the day or two and assess it then.
"Neill looks like he has fractured his cheekbone, he went to the hospital for an x-ray and further checks.
"I am not going to speculate at this stage if Neill could play with a protective mask, I will leave that to the medical staff.
"When the severity of the injury is known then a decision can be made on the way forward.
"Of course losing players to injuries takes the edge of the victory because we know we need everyone fit.
"We won't rest on our laurels though, people will now get the chance to step up to the plate and we move confidently on to the weekend."
Looking ahead to Saturday's home clash against bottom of the table Hartlepool United, Wilson concluded:
"Supporters might think Saturday will be an easy three points but as always we will give our opposition the due respect.
"It will be a tough game, make no mistake, because Hartlepool will come here with nothing to lose and they will be inspired to play at Bramall Lane.
"What we need to do is get on the front foot straight away because an early goal often can set the tone for the rest of the game as we saw against Scunthorpe."
