Danny Wilson believes Nick Blackman will prove to be a great acquisition for Sheffield United.
The 22-year-old Lancashire-born marksman joined the Blades on Friday morning for an undisclosed fee from Blackburn Rovers.
Blackman has penned a two-year contract with the option of a third and Wilson is delighted with his latest coup:
"Nick has joined us and he will add to the competition for a starting berth up front. He hasn't played as much as he would have liked at Blackburn, but we feel he has great potential and assets that can benefit the way we want to play.
"From our perspective his pace and power are two of his major attributes - he is a great acquisition for Sheffield United."
The Blades boss has been encouraged by what Blackman has achieved during stints away from Ewood Park and he feels the striker has plenty going for him as he looks to establish himself in South Yorkshire.
Wilson added: "Every team needs that pace and power which unsettles defenders and he has done very well in the SPL during loan spells with Motherwell and Aberdeen.
"Nick scored plenty of goals and that made us want to give him the chance in League One. He has a real appetite and desire to succeed and his still has youth on his side."
