Blades manager Danny Wilson's comments after the game against Burton Albion.
He said: "We didn't capitalise on our long periods of possession during the game. We needed to create more than we did and I think the pace the game was played at suited Burton more than us. They set themselves up with a game plan that has worked very well for them.
"It feels really strange playing a cup tie a week before the league season starts, it was Family Day at Bramall Lane and at times it had the feel of a pre-season friendly about it. The sun was out and it felt like a summer game, where as if it played on cold November evening it might have been more of a hammer and tongs sort of game.
"Nick Blackman and Shaun Miller looked good at times, their movement, speed and ability to link the game up well showed us that there is good things to come from them. We also had look at Callum (McFadzean) who got a feel for playing at Bramall Lane. Tony McMahon made his debut and looked very assured, as he should, he has played the game at a high level and, again, will offer us something different to what we have had before.
"For it to go to penalties after the very same thing happening at Wembley is ironic to say the least! But we have to put it behind us and get ready for the league season to start next Saturday against Shrewsbury. There is nothing wrong with getting a kick in the pants at this point of season, sadly to the detriment of the cup, but now all our focus will be on the Shrewsbury game."
