Under 18s 2-0 Hull - report

Sheffield United's Under 18s made it back to back victories in the space of a week with a well-deserved 2-0 victory at home to Hull City.

The young Blades were well on top throughout, taking confidence from last week's victory at Colchester United as Sam Ackroyd's double sealed another three points.

United started the match in complete control and goalkeeper Sam Kelly was rarely tested but it took some time for the chances to start coming despite the hosts dominating possession.

When the first chance did come, it couldn't have been presented in a more favourable fashion when Ackroyd was hauled to the ground from a Blades corner.

The referee subsequently awarded a penalty kick and Ackroyd stepped up himself to score the opener, though Tigers goalkeeper David Robson got a hand to it.

It gave United even more confidence and the chances started to appear more regularly as the home side shifted the ball quick and remained neat in possession.

Leo Gaxha and Zak Brunt both saw efforts go narrowly over the crossbar and Gaxha went even closer at the start of the second half when his powerful effort clipped the top of the woodwork.

Ackroyd headed Gaxha's hanging cross over soon after but the second did arrive just after the hour mark, and in spectacular fashion.

A quick passing move up field saw Jake Kelly's cross acrobatically volleyed home by Ackroyd for his second of the give United a more than deserved two-goal margin.

There was some late drama when both sides were reduced to ten men. A scuffle broke out which ended in United's Andre Brooks and Hull's Harry Lovick were both sent off with just over five minutes of the game to play.

S. Kelly, J. Kelly, Brooks, Neal, To. Williams, Foulstone, Gaxha (Osula 72), Maguire, Ackroyd (Viggars 77), Brunt (Jebbison 72), Capello.
Subs: Chapman, Skerritt.
