Sheffield United's Under 18s cruised to a comfortable victory in the sunshine at Colchester United's Florence Park on Saturday morning.
A stunning strike from Zak Brunt in the first half gave United the advantage before two goals in 10 minutes from Sam Ackroyd and Frankie Maguire sealed the game and William Osula added the gloss late on.
It was a convincing performance and a much needed three points for the young Blades but they never looked in doubt with the back four and Sam Kelly not overly tested but commanding enough when called upon.
A succession of early corners brought little success but allowed the Blades to gain control of the match, and they had to wait just 11 minutes before Brunt picked up the ball 25 yards out and fired an effort into the top corner.
United were rarely threatened during the remaining minutes of the first half but couldn't find the second goal to put the game to bed.
Maguire went closest when he curled an effort just wide but it was the second half where United really stamped their authority on the match.
Ackroyd all but sealed things with a low finish beyond the Colchester goalkeeper before Maguire slotted home first time from Leo Gaxha's neat pull back.
In warm conditions, it allowed Del Geary's side to ease through the remaining 25 minutes, with Kelly covering any half chances Colchester managed to throw at the Blades and fresh legs further up the pitch in the form of Ryan Viggars, Andre Brooks and William Osula.
It was Osula who finished off proceedings in the final minutes, controlling Brunt's cross, turning his man and firing into the corner to make it 4-0 and cap an excellent United performance.
