Sheffield United's Under 18s picked up their first point of the season with a hard-fought 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace, though the Blades had the better chances to win it.
After a quiet and mostly even first half which saw neither side able to create any major meaningful chances, the game came alive after half-time with both sides having chances to win the match.
United were much more solid at the back than in last week's home defeat to Coventry City, with the back three standing firm throughout and goalkeeper Sam Kelly making several good saves to keep Palace out in the second half.
The Blades started to take the initiative after the restart, with Sam Ackroyd first going close when he forced the goalkeeper into a good save down low, before Harrison Neal curled a free-kick just wide of the near post.
It was left wing-back Andre Brooks who went closest to opening the scoring when he spotted the goalkeeper off his line.
His audacious lob from all of 30 yards cannoned back off the crossbar when it looked to be dropping in, but the chances continued to come.
It was in the last five minutes when United really started to push Palace back into their own penalty area, and Frankie Maguire was next to go close when he saw an effort saved when through on goal.
Going for the rebound, Maguire felt he was pushed inside the box but the referee waved away the protests for a penalty.
Ackroyd saw a shot blocked on the line after a scramble inside the six-yard box and the final action of the match saw Maguire's shot from inside the area also blocked in front of goal.
