United's under 23s recorded their first win of the new season with a dominant 4-0 win against Bristol City at Bramall Lane.
Now unbeaten in three, Paul Heckingbottom's side are building some momentum and were well on top throughout, even before City captain Opi Edwards was sent off 10 minutes before half-time.
Looking to build on a quick start, the Blades created several chances during the opening 20 minutes, with Daniel Jebbison going close twice, while George Broadbent volleyed an effort wide from the edge of the box.
Zak Brunt, making his first appearance of the season, and captain Harrison Neal both saw efforts blocked, before the game swung further in United's direct when Edwards was given a straight red for a high two-footed tackle on Brunt.
It gave the Blades the motivation they needed to take control of the game. Five minutes before the break, Jebbison headed home Broadbent's cross from the right to give the Blades a deserved lead.
And before half-time could arrive, United doubled their advantage when Nicksoen Gomis stormed into the box and fired a powerful effort which beat the Bristol City goalkeeper via a small deflection to make it 2-0.
The Blades were in no mood to let up and promptly dominated the second half. Less than 10 minutes after the break, Brunt curled an effort into the far corner from inside the box to put the game beyond doubt.
Ilimian Ndiaye, who was a constant creative force throughout, set up Harry Boyes who had an effort saved before Jebbison completed the scoring with a low effort into the corner from outside the box.
It could have been more. Gomis went close again when he saw a shot pushed over the bar, before Ndiaye dazzled his way into the area and saw a low shot come back off the post in stoppage time.
