Sheffield United's Under 23s were on the end of a heavy defeat away at Crewe Alexandra on Wednesday afternoon.
With the Blades trailing 4-0 at the break after a difficult first half, Kyron Gordon's second half goal from a corner proved nothing more than a consolation before the hosts added a fifth on the break at the death.
The visitors actually started brightest in the first 10 minutes as Ta'Shae Andall-Gibbons won an early free-kick on the edge of the box which was flicked away from a corner.
But in a 10-minute spell the game started to get away from the Blades. The powerful Anene put Crewe 1-0 up after a quick break up field and he added his second soon after when he tapped home a low cross from the left.
The Blades tried to rally themselves and had chances from corners but never really tested David Richards in the Crewe goal.
Then in another quick spell before half-time the hosts put the game to bed. Adibisi fired home from distance before minutes later Anene completed his hat-trick after United gave the ball away in defence.
With the game beyond them, a triple substitution which saw Harry Boyes, Harrison Neal and Sammy Ompreon livened the Blades up somewhat and both Callum Gribbin and Jake Young went close to a consolation.
Gordon did get a goal 15 minutes from time when he flicked home Gribbin's corner but Crewe restored their four-goal advantage late on when Connor Heath ran through and slotted home past Amissah.
