United's Under 23s fell at home to a strong Leeds United as two strikes from Wales international Tyler Roberts and another from Kun Mihaylov gave the visitors a comfortable win.
Despite a disappointing end result, the Blades started on the front foot and could have scored inside the opening 10 seconds had either Reece York or Simeon Oure made more of a long pass forward into the box.
David Parkhouse also had a golden chance inside the opening minutes when he rounded Miazek but hesitated long enough to allow the Leeds goalkeeper to smother his effort.
After a quick start Leeds started to take control of proceedings with Manchester City loanee Jack Harrison particularly influential.
Dewhurst had to be alert to push away a curling Roberts effort before Harrison was tripped inside the box just inside 20 minutes and the Wales striker stepped up to calmly send Dewhurst the wrong way from the spot.
The Blades continued to compete but just couldn't create the meaningful chances necessary to get back into the game.
Dewhurst made several saves to keep the score at 1-0 before Mihaylov's powerful effort from distance was deflected up and over the England youth team goalkeeper and into the net to double the Leeds lead.
Any chance the Blades had of getting back in the game were extinguished no more than 30 seconds into the second half when a brilliant volley from Roberts ended the game as a contest.
Stephen Dalby wasted a great chance to make it four but the hosts didn't give up and substitute Jake Young was unlucky to see his individual effort come back off the post after less than a minute on the pitch.
Jordan Stevens went on to hit the post down the other end as Leeds pushed for a fourth but it was United who had the final say in the game when Oure ran through with seven minutes to go and finished calmly past Miazek.
