United's Under 23s shared the points against South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley at a wet and windy Oakwell Training Ground on Friday.
Kyron Gordon's early strike put the Blades in control but the team struggled to hit their stride in difficult conditions and were punished by Barnsley substitute Tommy Willard on the hour mark.
The Blades made the perfect start and flew out of the blocks inside the opening five minutes and saw a penalty awarded when Gordon was pulled down inside the box from a corner.
But Barnsley goalkeeper Henry Kendrick was equal to Jordan Doherty's effort and the chance from the penalty spot went begging.
From the resulting corner though United took the lead. Reece York did well to keep the ball in play and fire an effort back across goal which was turned in from close range by Gordon.
A lull set in for the rest of the first half as both sides struggled to create any meaningful chances before Barnsley set about overturning their deficit in the second half.
Marcus Dewhurst had to be alert to turn away Louis Wardle's low effort before Willard unleashed a fierce effort from the edge of the box which flashed past Dewhurst for the equaliser.
United dug in defensively though and stemmed Barnsley's momentum and had several chances themselves to steal the points in the dying minutes.
Firstly, Jake Young was played through but a heavy touch saw the chance go amiss before Oure also broke through but was also let down by a heavy touch in front of goal.
Defender George Cantrill then saw red in an eventful ending to the match for a second yellow card picked up for a foul in the middle of the park.
Blades: Dewhurst, Gordon, Belehouan, Doherty, Cantrill, York, Sheppeard, Broadbent, Oure (Williams 90), Brunt (Young 58), Boyes (Mallon 58).
