United's U23s hit six of the best away against Burnley on Monday evening, to put the Blades top of the Professional Development League.
A Tyler Smith hat-trick, an Oliver Greaves brace and a Nathan Thomas strike saw United seal a very impressive victory at Curzon Ashton.
The breakthrough came early with SMITH bursting through the Burnley defence from a Gilmour through ball and slotting home after just three minutes.
Chances were at premium in the next half hour with Eastwood being forced into a save from a McNeil shot being the most noteworthy action.
The hosts continued to look to carve out opportunities with Birch firing over from 18 yards.
However just two minutes later the Blades doubled the lead with THOMAS placing into the bottom corner calmly on 42 minutes from a Smith pass.
United weren't finished there though as GREAVES applied the finishing touch to a well worked move with Smith involved yet again on right on half-time.
After the break the lead would be extended further as SMITH stabbed home from close-range to continue his stellar performance on 56 minutes following a quality Slater cross on the right.
It would get even better for the Blades as six minutes later SMITH would net his hat-trick to put United complete control.
Goals kept flowing at the Tameside Stadium as Burnley would grab a consolation goal in the 66th minute as MCNEIL finished well for the Clarets.
The scoring would be rounded off in the 73rd minute by the Blades with GREAVES picking up his second of the night and fourth in two games with a well drilled finish from inside the area with Slater getting another assist.
