United's U23s which included Ben Heneghan, Nathan Thomas and Caolan Lavery got back to winning ways with a hard fought victory away at Leeds United.
A brace from Tyler Smith and an Oliver Greaves strike were enough to see off the Blades to victory at Thorp Arch.
The early stages, much like most of the game, were controlled by the Blades but they couldn't create a clear chance until the 17th minute when Thomas was brought down just inside the box for a penalty. Thomas stepped up himself but saw his spot kick well saved by the Leeds 'keeper.
On the half hour mark United were forced into two changes with both Ferguson and goalkepper Dewhurst both withdrawn due to injury.
That didn't faze the Blades however as two minutes later a Thomas cross was palmed into the air and Lavery rose up and knocked it down to SMITH who finished on the turn from six yards.
United's advantage would be doubled just ten minutes later with Thomas latching onto a poor touch at the back before SMITH picked up the ball rounded the goalkeeper and passed home into the empty net.
After the interval the opening stages were tight and lacked chances with a Lavery free-kick going just wide of the post from 20 yards being the most noteworthy action.
The game sprung into life on 68 minutes with Leeds pulling a goal back after the ball was worked into the box from the left wing and curled home into the bottom right corner.
Just a minute later United had their two-goal advantage back as Slater sent a ball down the right hand side which GREAVES latched onto to calmly lob the goalkeeper and put the Blades back in command.
The hosts would continue to press for the final 20 minutes and on 88 minutes they got a consolation after a free-kick which deflected into the air left Warhurst stranded and was headed home by the Leeds man but this would be the final action of the game as United claimed three deserved points.
