Backing up the men's excellent win at Hillsborough, United Ladies made it a double celebration on Sunday with a win at Sporting Khalsa to complete their own busy but fruitful week.

United Manager Dan O'Hearne made just one change from the team that started on Thursday evening's excellent win over Steel City with Amy Beanland replacing Sheldon Ashton in centre midfield. The game was played at Wolverhampton University's Walsall Campus.

United had a storming first quarter of the match, Tania Marsden put them ahead after six minutes, adding a second from a corner after 18 minutes. Nat Shaw then struck to make it 3-0 just a minute later.

Sporting Khalsa pulled one back and though United understandably looked a little tired after Thursday's tough game, had enough resilience to see the game through. "We are so much stronger now as a squad and have got that winning mentality," said Rachel Ruddach afterwards.

Manager O'Hearne summed the week up: "A fantastic seven days for the Ladies picking up maximum points from three games. Firstly a convincing win at local rivals Rotherham United, then a midweek derby game against Steel City which was a physical encounter but we played some excellent football which was a joy to watch in front of the biggest crowd of the season so far. A completely different game today where it was a smash and grab affair scoring three early goals against useful opposition. We changed our shape at half-time to combat the threat they were causing us but held on very heavy legged after the midweek game. We have now gone six games unbeaten and momentum and belief is starting to build."

The three points consolidate United's fifth place in FA Premier League Midlands Division and this coming Sunday host Leicester City Ladies, one of four teams yet to register a point so far this season.

Blades: Houldsworth, Hartley, Neary, Froggatt (Cawthorn), Bell, Spurr, Beanland (Hickerman), Brown, Kenyon, Marsden (Marshall), Shaw.
