United secured a first league win of the season in fine style, hitting 11 past local rivals Rotherham on Sunday.
Manager Dan O'Hearne made three changes from the side that earned a point in a dour game at Radcliffe the previous week, recalling Nat Froggatt, Tania Marsden and Sheldon Ashton to the starting line-up.
Rotherham United, it should be pointed out, are in a difficult period of rebuilding after losing key players from last season and had to delay their season start until sufficient signings had been made.
Marsden put United ahead after just three minutes and United made the game safe with three quick goals half way through the period from Jodie Hartley, Sophie Bell and Kim Brown. Marsden later added her second and Nat Shaw, against her former club, made it six before the break.
Brown and then a first United goal for right-back Evie Robinson within minutes of the restart made it 8-0.
The game had no more goals for nearly 40 minutes until United signed off with three right at the end. Brown completed her hat-trick before two of the substitutes found the net too. Alex Hickerman made it double figures on her first appearance of the season and Jen Pearson completed the rout in injury time.
This Thursday United play another local rival when Steel City Wanderers come to the SteelPhalt Academy, 7.45pm kick-off. City lie fifth in the FA Premier Midlands table, one place above United.
