United came from behind to record a point against Burnley at Turf Moor after another impressive display.
The Blades dominated large parts of the contest but were heading to defeat after James Tarkowski opened the scoring before half-time. United stuck to the task and were rewarded inside the final 10 minutes when John Egan deservedly equalised with a terrific finish.
Boss Chris Wilder named an unchanged starting 11 for the trip to Lancashire, with United receiving a huge boost with the news that defender Jack O'Connell was fit enough to take his place amongst the United bench.
United had a great opportunity to open the scoring just inside the first minute. A quick throw from George Baldock was seized upon by David McGoldrick who instinctively flicked the ball inside to Oli McBurnie whose low drive was saved by the leg of Nick Pope.
On four minutes United had the ball in the net. Jack Robinson's long throw was spilled by Pope under pressure with Sander Berge on hand to convert, but the whistle had long since gone for a nudge by McBurnie on the stricken 'keeper.
United maintained the excellent start and when a long pass forward was flicked on by McBurnie, McGoldrick was almost through until a quick intervention from Pope who sprinted off his line to clear.
Despite an excellent start by the Blades, Burnley should have been in front on nine minutes. After Robinson gave the ball away on halfway, the Clarets counter attacked through Jay Rodriguez. He found Erik Pieters who played in Matej Vydra but when clean through he dragged his shot just wide of the far post.
Straight down the other end United also missed a great chance to open the scoring. McBurnie did brilliant to turn his man before sprinting to the by-line, he pulled a low cross back which was perfect for Berge, but his goal-bound effort was blocked.
Egan, still forward from a previous attack, also went close in the first quarter as he just failed to connect at full stretch to a wonderful cross from Ben Osborn.
The Blades continued to create good chances with Berge next to go close when he flashed a header over the bar from a good cross from Ollie Norwood.
The Blades skipper was involved again soon after when Osborn and Robinson both had crosses into the area, with the latter's effort deflected behind for a corner. Norwood swung in a dangerous centre, but Egan powered his header over the bar.
Dean Henderson was called into action for the first time on 38 minutes when he comfortably beat away a Phil Bardsley strike from range, whilst at the other end another Robinson cross was turned over the top by McBurnie.
United had dominated the half but were behind at the interval as the Clarets struck just before the break. Ashley Westwood's free-kick was flicked on by Rodriguez and Tarkowski was there to net from close range.
The Blades started the second stanza on the front foot and had the first effort when McGoldrick's long range effort looped into a dangerous area where Baldock was lurking. The wing-back's hooked cross was cleared by Kevin Long with McBurnie ready to pounce just behind.
O'Connell was given his first outing since the lockdown when he replaced Robinson on 54 minutes whilst Billy Sharp replaced Norwood.
The Blades were enjoying the majority of the play and stepped up again on the hour mark. A patient, well-worked move, starting with Berge was quickened up by Osborn who found Stevens. The Irishman fed the ball into the path of the overlapping O'Connell and his dangerous centre just eluded McGoldrick following a deflection.
Wilder continued to make attacking changes with the introduction of Lys Mousset and Jack Rodwell, making his United Premier League debut, but for all the possession United were kept at bay.
Against the run of play Burnley should have made it 2-0. Rodriguez attempted a long-range volley which was parried clear by Henderson straight to Dwight McNeil, but the winger dragged his effort wide.
United's patience was finally rewarded on 80 minutes. The Blades worked a short corner into the path of Osborn who stood up a cross into the area. Sharp reacted quickest to flick the ball on and there was EGAN to rifle an unstoppable shot into the top corner from the angle.
The Blades pressed for a winner in the closing stages with Berge stinging the palms of Pope late on with a 20-yard strike.
