Blades 3-0 Bradford - report

United remain on course to end the season with a 100 points following the Easter Monday success over Bradford.

A first-half brace from Leon Clarke either side of Billy Sharp's 27th of the season set United on course to make it 15 games unbeaten, as the Blades celebrated being crowned Champions in the best possible style.

For the televised clash, Wilder made three changes to his starting XI. Freeman, Lafferty and Duffy all returned, with Ebanks-Landell, O'Shea and Done dropping to the bench. Hanson missed out against his former club with a calf problem.

United entered a packed Bramall Lane to a guard of honour, formed by the opposition and match officials. The home supporters were in full voice from the first whistle and Fleck almost caught Doyle out at his near post inside the opening ten minutes. At the other end, Wright produced a timely block to deny Dieng.

And the noise went up several notches in the 13th minute as the Blades went in front. O'Connell powered forward and combined with Duffy, before teeing up CLARKE, who curled home a low effort with his left foot.

Seven minutes there was further reason to celebrate as skipper SHARP added a second, finishing calmly past Doyle, after another free-flowing move, involving Lafferty, O'Connell and Fleck.

Fleck's next contribution was to be booked for a slightly late tackle on Cullen. City rallied from the shock of going two goals down and Wyke should have pulled on back, but he headed wide with the goal at his mercy from Marshall's right-wing cross.

With 10 minutes remaining in the first-half, Wright was yellow carded for a mistimed tackle on Marshall. But in the 42nd minute the home fans were out of their seats again, as United added a third. A swift counter attack saw Duffy run at City's defence, before Sharp unselfishly pulled the ball back to CLARKE, who rifled home his second of the afternoon

The first action of the second period saw Moore called into action for the time in the game, saving a McMahon shot at the expense of a corner. As the hour mark approached, Coutts was booked for a lunge on Cullen.

United's first change saw Duffy receive a warm hand as he was replaced by Carruthers. Shortly afterwards, Vincelot was carded for a scissor tackle on Coutts. The action on the pitch had calmed down following a frantic first period, but the Lane was in party mood with the Blades fans in continuous song about their Championship winning heroes.

With the clock ticking down, Sharp headed at Doyle from a Carrruthers cross, before Basham had two attempts at goal in a matter of seconds after Sharp had been denied. Firstly, his effort was blocked by McArdle, before heading straight at Doyle.

Three minutes of added time were signalled and passed without incident, with the full-time whistle sparking more celebrations.
