A total of 13 youngsters have put pen-to-paper on scholarship deals with the club, including several who appeared for Derek Geary's U18s during an impressive 2019/20 campaign.

The young Blades ended the curtailed second in the U18 Professional Development League North, six points clear of third-placed Barnsley with two games in hand, almost guaranteeing Geary's side would have made the end of season play-offs.

With a new campaign now on the horizon, Geary though has a new and exciting crop of youngsters to call upon, with the likes of Beau Anderson, Antwoine Hackford, Finley Potter and Theo Williams signing scholarships having already made appearances in the U18s last season.

Thomas Angell, Oliver Arblaster, Tyrese Bailey-Green, Louie Marsh, Ethan Slater and goalkeeping duo Henry Hampshaw and Callum Hiddleston have also signed scholarship deals with the club.

Completing the 13, two more youngsters have also signed scholarships with the club after arriving from elsewhere. Josh Smith arrives from Bracknell Town while Luther Williams joins from Chelsea.

With pre-season training back under way last week, both Geary and Head of Academy Jack Lester are excited about the next crop of youngsters coming through at the club.

"We've got a really good group coming in," said Geary. "There's a lot of potential, lots of different types of players and it's exciting for us. We had a really good group last year and the group this year is now about starting from scratch, implanting my personality on them as a team but ultimately them being their own people and their own character. There's a lot of talent and it's going to be a challenging but exciting two years for them."

Head of Academy, Jack Lester, added: "They're a top, top group and we're really excited about them. They've come back in great shape and we've got some real talents coming through the system ahead of the new season."
