Sheffield United's Under 23s put in a strong performance to earn an important three points as they look to kick-start their season after a difficult start.
Goals late in both halves from captain Reece York and striker Sammy Ompreon wrapped things up on a night where the Blades were in control throughout and could have scored several more for their efforts.
Goalkeeper Michael Verrips started, as did defender Kean Bryan, but it was the Blades attack who set the tempo and if anything, the opening goal could and should have come within the opening minutes.
Keenan Ferguson, who was excellent throughout, fired wide from close range after getting on the end of Harry Boyes' cross, but it set the tone for what was to come.
Ompreon saw a shot blocked before Jake Young tested the goalkeeper and York put the rebound into the side netting, before Young then slid an effort just wide from less than 10 yards.
It felt like a goal was coming and the perfect opportunity came when York was adjudged to be fouled inside the box five minutes before half-time.
The captain picked the ball up himself and fired a powerful effort into the corner to give the Blades a deserved lead going into the break.
It was more of the same as the second half got under way, this time Iliman Ndiaye firing over after a strong run to the edge of the box just three minutes after the restart.
Kyron Gordon saw a header drop over before Young was once again denied by the goalkeeper and as the game entered its final 10 minutes, it was somehow still just 1-0 and a nervy finale for United despite their dominance.
But any nerves were settled with eight minutes to go when Boyes released George Broadbent down the left, the midfielder picking out Ompreon with a super low cross and the striker rifled the ball home from six yards out.
It put the seal on a good performance for United and ensured an important three points was sealed with ten minutes of the game still remaining.
