United's Under 18s came away with a well-earned point from Nottingham Forest but it could have been more when both Zak Brunt and Sam Ackroyd hit the woodwork late on.
It was a cagey affair to begin with as both sides struggled to create chances, but Brunt went closest early on when his quick free-kick was pushed over a back-peddling Michael Statham.
Forest themselves had a free-kick down the other end but it was a more comfortable save for Sam Kelly before the hosts had a big chance to go ahead when Fin Back fired over from inside the area.
After a fairly even contest it was the Blades who had the best chances to nick the three points late on in the game.
George Broadbent and Leo Gaxha were introduced for fresh legs but it was the starting duo of Brunt and Ackroyd who nearly sealed it.
A dinked effort by Brunt was unlucky to drop onto the crossbar before Ackroyd ran through on goal and slotted his effort past Statham, only for the ball to rebound back off the post.
Blades: S. Kelly, Ashton-Hall, Foulstone, Williams, Gordon, Gomis, J. Kelly (Gaxha 50), Maguire, Ackroyd, Brunt, Stainrod (Broadbent 65).
