The Blades have bolstered the coaching staff at the SteelPhalt Academy, with the appointment of Andrew Hughes, who joins the club as U23s lead coach.
Speaking of Hughes, Academy Manager Jack Lester is thrilled to have added the 41-year-old to his staff at Shirecliffe.
Lester remarked: "Andrew will bring a load of positivity and energy to the Academy, and is a highly skilled and experienced coach, we are delighted to have secured this appointment."
Hughes, who most recently worked as first-team coach at Huddersfield Town, added: "I'm absolutely delighted to join at such an exciting time, and I can't wait to get started."
A versatile performer as a player, comfortable in a number of defensive or midfield positions, Hughes started his career at Oldham Athletic, before making over 100 appearances for Notts County.
Four years at Reading followed, where he clocked up close to 200 outings for the Royals, before spells with Norwich City, Leeds United, Scunthorpe United and Charlton Athletic.
Hughes spent a brief spell as a coach at Bolton Wanderers where he led their U23 side, prior to stints coaching at Rotherham United and Crystal Palace, before joining the Terriers under then boss David Wagner.
In addition to Lester and Hughes, Derek Geary will continue as U18s lead coach, with Matt Duke the Academy goalkeeping coach.
