United's Under 23s gained three points in their final home game of the season as Reece York's eighth goal of the campaign was enough in a low-key affair against QPR.

It was York's second goal in as many games and in reality the only major chance in a game which yielded little in terms of clear opportunities for either side.

QPR probably had the better of the first half but United's back three of Ky Gordon, Jean Belehouan and Jake Bennett stood firm to ensure Marcus Dewhurst had almost nothing to do throughout the match.

The moment of quality that effectively sealed the points came shortly before half-time. York latched onto a ball through the middle and fired a low effort into the far corner to open the scoring and score what would be the winner.

Harry Sheppeard was lively down the right but on a tough pitch, the Blades were rarely able to find the rhythm but dug deep to keep their visitors out.

There was a brief stoppage when one of the linesman needed replacing and the second half was stop-start in nature with several players picking up knocks.

Simeon Oure and George Broadbent were introduced but the second goal never came, Jean Belehouan having the best chance when he headed over after a late run into the box from a corner.

Dewhurst was called into action for really the only time when he comfortably stopped a curling effort from the edge of the box and United saw out the six minutes of stoppage time to end their home campaign on a high.

Blades: Dewhurst, Bennett, Belehouan, Neal, Gordon, York, Sheppeard, Brunt (Broadbent 55), Young (Oure 65), Greaves, Boyes.
Unused: S. Kelly, Gomis, Ackroyd.
