Marcus arrived at Bramall Lane in September 2011, on an initial loan deal from Reading and went straight into the team for the home encounter against Huddersfield Town.
The energetic left-back, who shot to prominence at Scunthorpe United, remained at S2 for the maximum 93-day period and made 14 appearances, prompting Danny Wilson to sign him on a permanent basis when the transfer window opened in January 2012.
His appearances in the second half of the campaign were limited but the diminutive Yorkshireman will be keen to make his mark in the 2012/13 season.
