Dave's signature was secured on transfer deadline day in August 2012, the highly-experienced striker agreeing a short-term deal until December - he had been without a club since terminating his deal with Portsmouth to ease the club's financial problems.
Before his two years on the south coast, he began his career scoring plenty of goals for Cambridge United, securing a move to Reading and helping them win the Championship in 2006. A £5.5m move to Stoke followed and loan spells at Reading the Middlesbrough preceded the move to Portsmouth. Before his switch to United he had chalked up more than 300 league appearances and over a century of goals.
