United have clinched the Central League Central Division title.
The Reserves, under the stewardship of Chris Morgan, claimed the point required from the final game of the season, against Nottingham Forest, at Shirecliffe on Tuesday afternoon.
Young Irishman Shane Murray gave the Blades the lead and Joe Swindell's leveller from the penalty spot failed to spoil the party as the second string completed the season by going nine matches unbeaten.
At a cold Shirecliffe, United, kicking downhill, made the better start and the first chance fell to Ertl but he was unable to get a shot away. Murray also went close with a free-kick.
Forest hit back with Morgan having a shot saved before the best chance of the half dropped their way on 31 minutes. Australian triallist Ormsby was caught in possession and Long was forced to parry from Blake before the United goalkeeper tipped the rebound from Osborn onto the crossbar.
Philliskirk went close before and after the break, forcing Forest goalkeeper Evtimov into a save on 59 minutes. Ormsby also had a header saved ahead of United going ahead on 69 minutes, through an Irish connection. Substitute McAllister supplied the cross and MURRAY took his time before firing through a crowd of bodies into the top corner.
Forest levelled with their next attack, on 77 minutes, when SWINDELL was held back by Warren as he attempted a shot. The striker picked himself up to score from the resulting penalty, sending Long the wrong way.
Knowing a point was enough to secure the title, United never looked in any danger in the final moments and Chapell had two opportunities to regain the lead but in the end it was incidental as the Blades moved four points ahead of second-placed Derby County, who finish their reserve league season on Wednesday.
