Lincoln City 0-2 Blades - match report
Leigh Bromby's prolific pre-season continued at Sincil Bank as he scored his third goal in as many games, whilst Glen Little netted in injury-time.
The right-back pounced in the first half at Lincoln City on Tuesday night and substitute Little rammed home a free-kick late on to secure yet another friendly victory for Kevin Blackwell.
A total of 655 Blades fans swelled the crowd at the League Two club to 2,624.
In the Lincolnshire rain, Treacy and France began in wide midfield berths but it was the home side who were the first to show. Fagan shot over Bennett's crossbar and United needed to repel a number of crosses into the box.
Robertson shanked a shot wide after linking up with Treacy and then France put in a neat cross for Bromby but his header was deflected wide. Irish winger Treacy then encouraged the travelling Unitedites with a pacey run from the halfway line which saw him beat three players before shooting just wide.
Treacy's impressive start continued when his accurate back heel paved the way for the opening goal on 31 minutes. The pass picked out Taylor who delivered a cross for the opposite full-back BROMBY to sneak in at the far post and side-foot home.
Bromby was also involved in the only other notable action of the first period when he returned to defensive duties to head away from Fagan, who was poised to head in Jamie Clarke's cross.
United quickly re-asserted their dominance in the second half and Robertson's goalbound shot struck the legs of Kovacs. Lincoln goalkeeper Burch was forced to keep out a 25-yard half-volley from Hendrie and Ward's shot from an acute angle before Bromby went close yet again, this time seeing his header from Howard's cross clip the top of the crossbar.
Little was given another chance to shine as the substitutes appeared and Reid cut in from the left before firing over with his right-foot. In a rare Lincoln attack, Connor held off both Morgan and Howard before supplying a cross for Shane Clarke to fire over the top of Bennett's crossbar.
Howard saw Burch off his line but a speculative volley was a yard wide and then Kilgallon shot at the Lincoln goalkeeper. The final moments saw further changes in personnel with Academy left-back Phil Roe introduced in the last ten minutes.
Two minutes of injury-time were coming to a close when the Blades won an injury-time free-kick. LITTLE stepped up to blast beyond the wall and into the corner of the net, giving Burch little chance.
