Boss aims to climb table

Posted on: Wed 24 Oct 2007

The local media who cover United on a regular basis saw a different side to Bryan Robson after Tuesday's victory over Leicester City.

United's boss smiled his way through the post-match press conference and admitted: "It is a weight lifted off my shoulders."

Robson saw his side keep a clean sheet away from home and record a first win on the road, thanks to Danny Webber converting Phil Bardsley's second half cross.

In his assessment of the game, Robson said: "It was a professional performance, we defended really well, worked hard and the midfielders tracked their runners.

"The concentration from set plays was brilliant and I didn't feel in any danger.

"Some of the goals we have conceded recently are beyond me so when we keep a clean sheet it is nice to see the work on the training ground rewarded. We've cut out the mistakes and improved."

Robson added: "That's what I expected when I first came here, but the confidence in the lads should be a lot better now and I want to play like that every week, hopefully climbing the table."
