Webber on penalty incidents

Posted on: Sat 20 Oct 2007

Danny Webber insists United deserved an injury-time penalty in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Preston North End.

The United striker, on as a half-time substitute, was hauled to the floor by North End defender Sean St Ledger as the four minutes of added time came to an end at Bramall Lane.

However, referee Singh, who had already awarded United a spot-kick for another tussle between Webber and St Ledger, said no to the second appeal.

Afterwards, Webber commented: "Both were 100 per cent penalties.

"We are disappointed with the way it has finished. The first penalty was given and the second was more of penalty.

"We didn't get the rub of the green but we will keep our heads down and work hard. We are improving, if we had have won with the same performance everyone will have been delighted."

There is little time to dwell on Saturday's draw with a trip to Leicester on the horizon.

Webber added: "We will prepare the same way, do things right and go out with a positive frame of mind."
