Boss thanks fans

Posted on: Wed 03 Oct 2007

Bryan Robson emerged from the aftermath of United's thrilling 3-3 draw with Cardiff City in defiant mood, energised by the potential injustice of a defeat - and the fans' backing for his team's fighting spirit.

Although 3-1 down early in the second-half some baffling refereeing decisions ensured that United retained the support of the faithful, a point the manager was quick to praise:

"I have to say that the fans were brilliant. Last Saturday they were frustrated when we fell apart and I can understand that, but tonight I think they liked our football, realised we had been hard done by and stayed behind us.

"I could hardly believe we went in at half-time losing. But the lads showed great character in coming back and that was pleasing because no way did we deserve to lose that game."
