Pie company gives fans plenty to sing about

Posted on: Thu 14 Apr 2011

The UK's number one football fan chant site has teamed up with The Blades' provider of football pies and pasties, to give fans everywhere a 'true taste of the terrace'.

Viral website, www.fanchants.com which was established 'by and for true footie fans', has united with Peter's Pies to recreate the atmosphere of the beautiful game online.

For several years, Fan Chants has bottled the sounds from grounds up and down the country, and put the passion of the match day in every fan's pocket. Now, Peter's Pies has added a little extra spice. Peter's Food Services MD, Neil Court-Johnston, explains:

"Every team in the English football league has a section on the Fan Chants' site devoted to recordings of their fans in full song. Anyone can write, record and upload a chant from their mobile phone directly onto the website.

"But there is a competitive side to the chants and this is where Peter's comes in. Every chant will now be awarded a Peter's Pie Rating out of five on the 'pie chart'. It's now up to fans to get on the site, see and hear what their team's fans are singing about, and award a Peter's Pie rating to the best chant."

Michael Dennis, Fan Chants founder, thinks that this is a match made in heaven,

"When Peter's approached us with the idea of sponsoring the pie rating, we laughed a lot, and then thought - 'actually, this is a perfect fit'. It helps that their guys are all footie mad as well!

"Fan Chants is growing amazingly quickly - thanks to the fans that upload around 100 new chants every day. We now have over 12,000 chants from the 92 English Football League Clubs.

"We will be launching our new site in May, so watch out for the great new features - and maybe a bouncing Peter's pie or two!"

Peter's Food Services MD, Neil Court-Johnston, said:

"Every football fan knows that the chants and the banter, the passion and the pies are crucial ingredients of the football religion.

"We're ecstatic that the number one fans website has joined forces with the football pie to identify with the true die hard fan. There's a lot to come, competitions, great prizes and plenty of chances to sample the goods!

"We want to make Peter's pies available in or near as many football stadia as possible, so fans get to enjoy the true taste of the terraces."

Peter's has rapidly developed as a market leader in sports stadia, supplying 38 professional clubs. In recent weeks, they have become a sponsor of Masters Football, which is covered exclusively on Sky Sports and teamed up with award-winning celebrity chef, John Benson-Smith to develop a 'game-changing' football pie for next season.
