Lead out your heroes

Youngsters get chance to lead out their heroes at the Lane by joining Junior Blades.

A young Sheffield United fan had a dream day as match mascot after winning the chance in a competition.

Junior Blades member Ellie Gough, 11, led out the team with Nick Montgomery and met her favourite player Chris Morgan at Bramall Lane before the 1-0 victory over Preston North End.

Ellie, who enjoys football and ice skating and goes to Minsthorpe Community College, South Elmsall, won the unique prize on the Junior Blades site at www.sufcjuniorblades.co.uk

Ellie said: "I'd like to thank Sheffield United for a great day, my mum and I got to meet Gary Speed and all the players, I loved it."

Young Blades fans can get the chance to do what Ellie did by joining Junior Blades and entering the competition throughout the season.

And whether it is a birthday treat, Christmas gift or just an extra special treat for your child, limited matchday mascot places are available to lead the team out in front of the crowds.

Jed Birks, 12, was the other mascot at the game and got his prediction spot on for a 1-0 win.

Jed, who attends Westfield School and enjoys trials riding and fishing, also lists Chris Morgan as his favourite player.

Limited mascot places are still available for certain matches with packages being available for 5 to 12 year olds only.
