Jamie joined United in the January 2009 transfer window from near neighbours Chesterfield for a fee of £330,000. The pacey diminutive striker signed for the Spireites two years earlier and scored 31 times for the club. He began his career with Aston Villa, where he played in a FA Youth Cup Final, and had a loan spell at Stockport County before making a permanent switch to Torquay United and then onto Chesterfield. Jamie signed a three-and-a-half year contract with the Blades and his goals and work-rate quickly earned him a first senior call up to the Northern Ireland squad, for whom he qualifies through grandparents.
