Goalkeeper Mark was signed on the eve of the 2009/10 season, covering for the uncertainty surrounding Paddy Kenny's situation. The London-born stopper initially signed on a month's loan from Blackburn Rovers, but the deal was extended until the end of the campaign. Mark began his career with Tottenham before accepting a professional deal and impressing for Northampton Town. His displays lead to a transfer to the Premiership but had his path to the first team at Ewood Park was blocked by England's Paul Robinson. He again impressed in a loan spell at Leicester City in the 2008/09 season before being recalled and a number of clubs had enquired about his services before joining United.
