Away form a big headache

Posted on: Mon 08 Mar 2010

The Blades go in search of points at Peterborough on Tuesday night needing to arrest a slide in away form that is in such stark contrast to that at Bramall Lane.

An FA Cup win at QPR in early January promised much but a run of losses since threatens to undermine the promotion bid and Kevin Blackwell says that the squad must adopt a tougher attitude:

"At home we are OK, but away we are not taking enough kicks and knocks in the final third to create something. I know what we are missing but we have to keep plugging on.

"You have got to handle situations and some players don't handle them away as much as they do at home. We are losing by the odd goal and football is tight at the moment. We are not far off but I need the players to want it more.

"The mentality was first class last season but this year it is not as strong but we have brought loads and loads of players in. The old group had been together a long time, most of these have only been here six months and some only for the last four or five weeks.

"We should have got results at Leicester, Forest and West Brom and are not a million miles away. We didn't assert ourselves until we went behind at Palace and we have got to start games more on the front foot."
