Yeates ups the ante

Posted on: Fri 29 Jan 2010

Mark Yeates is looking for a change of fortune against West Bromwich Albion and insists that the Blades have what it takes to return from The Hawthorns clutching the points.

Yeates already has experience of facing Roberto Di Matteo's charges this season, although it is a memory he is looking to put right on Saturday:

"I played against them earlier this season for Boro and we got beaten 5-0 at The Riverside, so hopefully they aren't on it like they were that day!

"Saying that, is was a strange game because it was an even match until they got the first goal. Chris Brunt then scored an absolute stunner and they ended up thrashing us."

The Dubliner feels the two squads are pretty evenly matched, an opinion that is reflected in terms of league positions, and although Yeates respects what the Baggies have in their armoury, he feels the Blades have more than enough in their armoury to make a good game of things:

"Everyone knows how good they can be, but Sheffield United are known for making life tough for the opposition and being difficult to beat.

"It is two different styles of football, but given the run we are on at the moment I quite fancy us, and arguably it is a good time to be playing them.

"West Brom have a lot of players who are comfortable on the ball, but we will go there, get in their faces and try and make sure we get a positive result.

"The boy Dorrans has been an instant success at this level, but we have got some very good players who they will know are a threat.

"There are a number of match-winners in our squad and everybody is full of confidence at the moment."
