With much to consider in terms of injury and suspensions Kevin Blackwell is giving nothing away ahead of the opening encounter of the season at Middlesbrough tonight:

"The lads know the team and we are looking forward to getting on with it, although I am disappointed that Lee Williamson has not made it because I wanted to change things in midfield.

"Kyle Walker has joined us again after England U19 duty and he will bring quality to the squad, but with Ward and Hendrie suspended and Henderson and Evans only being 'touch and go' I have to consider whether to play either of them for at least part of the game."

Middlesbrough, who have lost Mido who has returned to Egypt and Downing to Aston Villa, have goalkeeper Brad Jones ruled out with an ankle injury and Matthew Bates sidelined with a long-term knee problem.

New signings Danny Coyne, Leroy Lita and Mark Yeates are all in contention to make their debuts at the Riverside.
