The Championship's match of the day this weekend has to be the Blades against Reading at Bramall Lane, fourth against third, a solid defence against a potent attack - all the ingredients for an epic game. Kevin Blackwell sums up:
On three seasons ago
When United and Reading were promoted together Reading were the best side in the division by far. They had the best players, pace, power and score goals and went on to prove it by finishing up in a respectable position in the Premiership. In fact, it surprised a lot of people in the game when they came back down.
This season
They are back in top form again and there is no doubt that they have the potential to be the best again, although there is more of a competitive edge at the top of the Championship this season
On the Irish influence
They have good management, good staff and good players with a crop of talented Irishmen so I hope that our own drop of Irish (Kenny, Quinn, Stokes) can outdo theirs.
On United
Since February our winning ratio must be one of the best in the country, and now we are aiming at a consistent level of performance.
We are trying to play attractive football when we can but you need to be able to defend properly as well to get out of this division
We are no fools and no doubt we can improve in certain aspects of our play, particularly in supporting James Beattie in terms of spreading the goalscoring.
We are trying to build a side that is mentally tough, and has a blend of gritty players and flair players.
On playing at home
We try to impose themselves on the opposition and when we get our crowd going it is hard for visiting teams. Our reputation now means that the opposition often shut up shop, try and keep it tight and nick a goal late on, but Reading have a belief about them and will come to play.
