Gaffer on Terriers

Posted on: Wed 27 Aug 2008

Kevin Blackwell spent two fondly remembered years at Huddersfield Town with Neil Warnock but expects a tough welcome on the pitch from the current Terriers side tonight:

"This is not a run of the mill early round cup fixture against a small team. There will be good crowd, a great derby atmosphere and the Galpharm Stadium is a top class venue - in short, all the ingredients to make sure that our players are kept on their toes.

"We are blessed in that this will be the sort of competitive fixture we want for our players. Huddersfield haven't had the best of starts and will definitely be wanting to win.

"They have a good squad, spent a bit of money and have an ambitious new chairman. It is early days for them and new players will take time to settle, but they will be dangerous from set plays with the likes of Booth and Butler around.

"Danny Cadamarteri is quality on his day and, of course, we know all about Chris Lucketti and David Unsworth, two solid and experienced pros who have enjoyed outstanding careers.

"They will all want to prove a point to their manager and supporters, whilst we want to avenge our pre-season loss there."
