Bring it on

Posted on: Wed 31 Oct 2007

Blades skipper Chris Morgan is looking forward to Wednesday night's Carling Cup clash with Arsenal at Bramall Lane and feels United are more than capable of causing an upset.

The inspirational leader knows the sorts of problems the Gunners will cause, but is hopeful his side can produce a surprise with the backing of the Bramall Lane faithful.

He began: "We have had some good games with Arsenal, especially last season when we won at Bramall Lane and I am sure everybody will be looking forward to Wednesday night.

"It doesn't matter who they put on the pitch, it will be a tough game, although I am sure Arsene Wenger will be wary of coming here after getting stung last year."

Despite this, Morgan knows it will take an all-round team effort if the Blades are going to be successful, against an Arsenal side unbeaten in all competitions this campaign.

He continued: "It will need a big performance from all the lads and depends on the mood that Arsenal come with on the day. We have worked on certain things in training and we are all set.

"A lot of Arsenal players have stepped up to the challenge since Henry left and they have proved their worth to the club, whilst taking them forward. As a player you want to test yourself against the best, and Wednesday night is no different."

The captain also intimated that his team will show the necessary respect to their Premiership opponents, but insists come kick-off there is no reason why the Blades can't spring a major surprise.

He concluded: "We have to treat every team with respect, although when you cross that white line it is eleven versus eleven, they have some world class players, but sometimes it is who wants it the most."
